We are expanding our in-house Design Team and seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and engineering of electrical systems on major Design & Build projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering technically excellent, compliant, cost-effective, and sustainable electrical designs, ensuring seamless project execution. As a senior leader, you will oversee stakeholder engagement and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain design integrity throughout all project phases.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical aspects of MEP designs, collaborating with mechanical, BIM, and CDP teams.
  • Oversee electrical design from concept through to detailed reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with British Standards, building regulations, and environmental frameworks (e.g., Part L, BREEAM, LEED).
  • Contribute to estimating, tendering, and value engineering processes.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and client expectations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide support to construction teams during project delivery.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, workshops, and site visits.


Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • 5+ years of practical experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services.
  • Degree in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 4 / City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent technical certification.

Desirable

  • Ideally have experience of M&E systems and relevant sector standards.
  • Professional Body Membership (e.g., IET, CIBSE, EI, SLL).
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (IEng, BEng, CEng).


Abilities and Skills
Essential

  • Strong technical, communication, and project management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of British Building Regulations, BS EN Standards, and CIBSE Guidance Documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering analysis/calculation software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid technical foundation.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior engineers.
  • Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or training in BIM processes, including clash detection using Navisworks.
  • Training or certification in sustainability frameworks (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
  • Familiarity with modular MEP design for off-site construction.
