We are actively seeking energetic and diligent Technical Buyer to join our highly skilled team in Birmingham.

You will play a key role in the procurement of electrical technical plant and materials selection and buying for all live jobs, assisting and reporting to the senior electrical buyer & Head of Technical Procurement. You will work closely with our Procurement, Design, Operations and Accounts teams in ensuring the smooth transition of all technical orders from requesting and reviewing quotes to issuing and gaining approval of Technical Submittals, keeping budgets updated and the wider group on progress of the technical buying through trackers and progress meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse & establish cost parameters against budgets for purchases
  • Create and maintain good relationships with manufactures/suppliers
  • Make professional decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing library, and other important data
  • Review and analyse all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options when required
  • Pull together Technical Submissions
  • Update the wider team through trackers and other technical documents and supplier documents.
  • Ensure that the products are delivered on time
  • Maintain and update a list of suppliers, delivery times, and mitigate against delays
  • Work with team members and Senior Buyer to complete duties as needed
  • Attend Project Meetings when required

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Industry qualification or at least 2 years’ experience in a technical role
  • Minimum GCSEs in English and Maths (grades A–C or equivalent)

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to establish and close deals
