Kane given the nod on Historic Biscuit Factory Site

We are thrilled to announce our recent appointment as the MEP contractor for the highly anticipated Bermondsey project, Block S&T, in partnership with main contractor Sisk and developer Greystar.

The Bermondsey project is a transformative development that will breathe new life into a former biscuit factory, creating 1,624 new homes, as well as retail, leisure, and office spaces. Kane has been entrusted with the completion of the building services engineering package on Blocks S&T, which will feature 472 market rent apartments across two towers standing at 35 and 28 storeys high.

Ger Hays, Managing Director at Sisk, expressed the company's excitement about the collaboration, stating, "We are excited to collaborate with Greystar and our long-standing supply chain partners to lower the carbon footprint of both buildings by leveraging MMC and offsite manufacturing, while also engaging with the local community to create a lasting impact."

The brownfield site, situated on a former biscuit factory, will be transformed to include retail, leisure, and office spaces, as well as extensive amenities for residents such as lounges, workspaces, gyms, private dining rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and expansive roof terraces. The buildings are targeting Home Quality Mark 4 Star for the residential spaces and BREEAM Excellent certification for the commercial areas. Additionally, the development will retain a portion of the former packing factory, which features impressive exposed concrete structures and 10-meter-high ceilings.

We are excited to get started on this landmark project and look forward to moving into the operations phase. Kane will be making a start on site in January 2025, bringing our expertise in sustainable and innovative MEP solutions to ensure the Bermondsey development becomes a benchmark for future residential projects in the region.
