Kane have delivered an array of work placements on Gascoigne Estate as part of a training element of the Women into Construction (WIC) employment programme, delivered in partnership with Capital City College Training (CCCT). The work placements gave women a chance to experience a breadth of roles on site.
After making an impression at speed interview sessions, Mary and Yinka were placed with the Kane team and learnt about processes from quality control, QS, site management to document control and toolbox talks.
When speaking of her experience at Kane, Mary said, “Crina, I wanted to say the biggest thank you, you being the first part of contact for myself, you gave me such a massive insight to the whole project. With you I learned a lot of the administrative side of things, uploading the briefing sheets and toolbox talks onto the various systems like four projects and field view.”
And Yinka said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Kane and have gained a wide range of experience and understanding of what it is like to be on site, and to work within the construction industry. I’ve learnt different skill sets such as formulating and delivering toolbox talks, to being involved in final fix installations of domestic water in flats, to looking into quality and seeing what goes into a successful audit to learning how to use the holo builder tool."
